My stylish mom has always been a risk-taker in fashion and urged my teenage self to do the same (much to my resistance). I thought I knew what worked for my body and I wanted to stick to it (usually a short flirty skirt) – but frankly I was probably just afraid to look silly and lose my cool-girl image. Culotte shorts were one such example – I couldn’t fathom why my mom would want to wear this odd-fitting garment… look at me now hahaha! As I got older and my taste in fashion was refined, I learned that this beautiful creative outlet called fashion is just that – an outlet – to try new things and experiment with silhouettes, shapes, and colors… without fear. Now if I could only find mom’s 70s jumpsuits!
