TPWP Holiday Gift Guide

I love Christmas. Gift-giving is one of my favorite activities and living in the city makes finding the perfect gifts quite easy. No crowded stuffy malls, no long lines, no boring generic objects. Instead I head to my favorite boutiques and shops and can literally shop for everyone on my (very long) list in a couple days.

Here are some of my favorite gifts to give this season, perfect for last minute shoppers, and you can find them all just a few blocks/metro stops away from each other

For The Girls

1. I visit my favorite vintage store in the city often enough to memorize all the accessories there, but Cathy and Katerina always find more to amaze me. Vintage long Chanel necklace at Treasury $115
2. Butterflies are the only insects I can tolerate, and most girls love them. Why not get them a whole set – These gorgeous ones are crafted in California and you can find them at AND Beige $140

3. I love this scarf/hood/necklace so much that I have it in 3 colors. $55 from DC’s own DeNada available online or at Redeem
4. I fell inlove with Kelly Wearstler at the Viceroy Hotel in Miami, where her Hollywood-Regency-on-Acid designs won me over. Her latest book, Hue, is filled with pictures from that hotel plus many of her gorgeous homes. I don’t know many girls that wouldn’t be inspired by this book. At Politics and Prose $49.95

5.  I’m not sure I’ve ever met a girl that doesn’t like roses, which means she will also like Rose Macaroons – I love these with tea. From Locolat – a gift box of 8 ($20.78)

6. An adorable black sequin cosmetic bag that doubles as a clutch – big enough for all her travel-size containers – From Felix Rey at Daisy Too. Fill it with the Bliss Tried and Blue Travel Kit from the city’s newest spa $20

For the Boys

1. I love luxurious warm robes, and I assume that men would also – Especially this flannel vintage (but never worn) green plaid one at Treasury $48
2. Do you know any guy that likes pretty Brazilian girls? Would they also like to see a young Giselle in various stages of undress? Then look no further. This book by Mario Testino is one of my favorite latest acquisitions – Rio de Janeiro at Politics and Prose $39.99

3. Boring cufflinks are, well, boring. This vintage moon & star set will add character to any man’s wardrobe – at Treasury $42
4. When winter comes around my brothers crave Hot Chocolate, so does every guy I know as a matter of fact, and they all (including me) get theirs at Locolat. A pound of Gourmet Dark Chocolate Chips (eat them alone or mix with milk) $16

For Everyone

1. I saw several people staring at this over-sized travel bag while I photographed it, which means it would be a sure fit for almost anyone. At treasury $55
2. Tasteful and interesting accessories make a house a grown-up home. And Beige has many affordable and carefully curated objects that make a great addition to anyone’s collection (or lack thereof). One of my favorites is this small industrial bulb $42 at AND Beige

 3. Oooh, the pleasures of fine cheese. I spent many afternoons at Cowgirl Creamery tasting and marveling at dozens of local and exotic cheeses. This Cowgirl collection includes some of my favorite soft aged cheeses – the award winning RED HAWK, their season herb-encrusted PIERCE PT, and triple-cream MT TAM – At Cowgirl Creamery $55
4. I know everyone has an iPhone now, but sometimes keeping important numbers and notes in a place not affected by electronic gremlins is quite helpful. This vintage plaid Pendleton address book is perfect for it – at Treasury $18

5. In case your friends and loved ones didn’t already know the best places to eat, drink, shop and be merry in this city (or any other) – they will after they read Wallpaper’s newest guide. Washington DC guide at Politics and Prose $9.95

We will be doing a Christmas countdown and giving many of these away to you readers throughout next week, so check back often!
