Brightest Young Things Zou Bisou Bisou Party at the French Embassy

a rose by any other name would smell as sweet...

I grew up in an enchanted house; my playground was a courtyard of lemon trees and beautifully manicured rose bushes that always seemed to be in bloom and sprouted fairytale roses of colors and sizes that I have never again seen. My imaginative and mercurial mind fabricated hundreds of stories… some of which surely included lace tepees.

Happy for me, I was able to re-live a little bit of that whimsy in the magically enchanted teepee garden created by the equally whimsical and beautiful Morgan Hungerford from Panda Head Magazine for the Brightest Young Things Zou Bisou Bisou party at the French Embassy. Join us as we turn the party into our own one outfit mini-lookbook. Hand-crocheted mini dress by Knitted and Knotted, boots by Pierre Hardy for GAP, and studded Eddie bag by Phillip Lim (from Muléh).

Ancient Crafts

I thought I would show you one of my favorite Collections for Fall 2008 which, fittingly for TPWP, comes from Miuccia Prada. The collection is saturated with mystery, heavy momentous lace garments that inexplicably refrain from sexiness or prettiness - and were instead menacing and mischievously erotic.

I attempted to capture my favorite moments from the runway and the collection in this collage.

I have also been collecting in my head all these beautiful unexpected items that are made of lace like the Marcel Wanders Crochet Chair and this Moulin Lace Lamp (which I’m buying) and wondered upon seeing the Prada collection if this lace re-emergence is our answer to melancholy for vintage times - modernized and mystical - whatever the reason, I am very happy the trend is back.
