Givenchy Pre Fall 2012

The Givenchy Pre Fall 2012 look book really stood out to us. We love how the composition of the photography echos the silhouettes of the clothing: structured, upright and strong. Our favorite element is the boots, with their slightly slouchy shell; they look like uptown elegant riding boots. Other highlights: asymmetric pants, giant bows, pops of color and prints.

Our friends at Columbian clothing brand A New Cross have made a beautiful video showcasing their fall/winter clothing. I love the moody lighting, great special effects and driving baseline. My heart started to race when I glimpsed the model’s shoes; they make such amazing shoes!

If you missed our coverage of the A New Cross fashion presentation you can find it HERE.

The collection is available exclusively at one of our favorite DC stores: Redeem.

A New Cross for Redeem - Fall Winter 2011

When we were asked to help host Redeem’s Fifth Year Anniversary party we didn’t hesitate to say yes. We were especially excited when we learned an exclusive collection from Colombian line “A New Cross” would be featured. There is so much to love about the unique designs of Nicolás Rivero and David Angel - the unisex styles, innovative & avant-garde silhouettes and handmade details of the collection are all exceptional (available only at Redeem). See our pictures of one of the best fashion presentations to ever be featured in DC (more pictures of the unforgettable evening coming soon):

De*Nada Autumn & Winter 2011 Lookbook

These De*Nada lookbook shots are much more than pretty pictures to us. They represent a major milestone in the creative development of The President Wears Prada. Not only were we responsible for the photography and styling of the shoot, the TPWP photographer also renovated and decorated the house within which the shoot took place. So what you see here is not just another photo shoot in a pretty place, but the culmination of more than a year of work!

We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed making them. Plus you should click your way over to De*Nada design’s online store and place an order for one (or a dozen) of their fantastic handmade scarves, by doing so you will be supporting one of the most creative families in Washington DC!

Models (in order of appearance) - Stephanie McArthur, Mason O’Sullivan, and Marina Petrenko:

The principal of De*Nada design (and DC resident) Virginia Arrisueño and her husband Kelly Towles have become great friends and working with them on this endeavor has been an amazing creative experience.

In the coming days we will be posting more images from this shoot, so stay tuned!

We collaborated with local DC designer Virginia Arrisueño of De*nada Design on the styling and visuals for the LookBook of her latest collection. We love her designs and wear the beautiful scarves every single day in the Fall/Winter months (and on chilly Spring days). Yesterday we shot the products for her latest collection (we can’t wait to show you the LookBook!!). But, since you can’t see those pictures quite yet, we’d like to share a video of our first collaboration with De*nada from last year, featuring the different ways to wear “the cowl”. Enjoy!

Angela Missoni’s latest menswear collection was an ode to the tracksuits that her father designed and wore as part of the Italian national team in the 1948 London Olympics. I think her idea of using a comfortable woven fabric in the mens suits is brilliant - imparting the clothes with versatility through construction and material. Here is a collage I put together of my favorite details & backstage shots from the Missoni Spring 2012 Menswear Collection in Milan.

A Cocoon in the Snow Storm

A few days ago some friends and I went to the Worn Magazine mixer at Kushi - and no, the snow storm didn’t stop us. It was the first mixer that Worn Magazine has organized, but the beautiful and indefatigable Nicole (editor of the magazine) promises us there will be more to come - especially since this one sold out within days of announcement. I had a great time meeting new people in creative fields and catching up with old friends… I am excited for the outcome of future mixers as a platform for collaborations, new projects and simply to see my favorite fashionable people in the city a little more often.

I’m wearing Reiss 1971 Georgine oversized button down, De*Nada Design white cowl web, F21 leather patch leggings, and Pierre Hardy for the Gap lace-up boots.
