Tarts by Tarts at Treasury Valentine’s Event

Tart of Gold was a mouth watering event from a vintage and food standpoint. Treasury is always a great visit because they do such an excellent job of arranging and styling their merchandise. We are especially taken with their accessories and never fail to make at least one purchase on every visit (including this one).

The baking duo of Tarts by Tarts should probably add the tagline ‘ridiculously photogenic baked goods’ to their website. The pictures we took definitely triggered a Pavlovian response while we edited them. Luckily we ordered their Simple Apple Tart at the event, and are happy (sad?) to report that we liked it so much most of it did not make it to Valentine’s Day.

We were happy to see Kate, who we have shot before. She also writes for BYT, works part time at Treasury, and looks beautiful:

Alexa Chung for Madewell - Georgetown Launch Party

This past Saturday, one of Britain’s it-girls, Alexa Chung, came to DC to celebrate the launch of her latest collaboration with Madewell. The collection features several vintage-inspired items (lace, polka-dotted blouses) and accessories (like the Zowie boots) that have become synonymous with Alexa’s style. Fans of her quirky, effortless look packed the Georgetown store to meet the sweet and beautiful Alexa, who greeted every one warmly and happily posed for pictures and signed autographs.

Here are some of our pictures from the afternoon:

In the spirit of the collection, I’m wearing a vintage polka-dot blouse (bought at VFW hosted by Goodwill and SpicyCandy DC), a heart-printed silk skirt from Zara, a vintage velvet clutch, and wood-heeled Mary-Janes from the GAP):

The line was long and the excitement level high:

She has the most endearing facial expressions (this may be an English trait):

We really liked her thigh-high socks and platform sandals:

We ♥ Vintage

We stopped by Treasury, our favorite vintage store in Washington DC, today and found some gorgeous items to photograph (and buy). We clearly had a little obsession with white accessories as you can see in our pictures below. I also bought a beautiful wool tunic designed for Selfridges London. See our city guide for more updated pictures

LITHICS rings from one of our favorite boutiques in DC - Treasury. They were cast from salvaged molds that were on the verge of extinction. Our favorites are the powder-coated versions.

Love the white powder-coated necklace and bracelet from one of favorite boutiques in DC - Treasury. Although you can’t get them anymore since I bought both ;)
